One of my many passions is to play bar trivia! I started doing this from time to time while I lived in Philadelphia as my cousins would often invite me out to play (despite the fact that I was underage at the time). It began to be something I looked forward to.
When I moved from Philadelphia to Greensboro I found that at the time the pickings for Trivia were quite slim. The options were out there but most charged a fee to play and the quizmasters were usually too narrow minded on their questions. Thus trivia became a thing of the past for me.
On December 20th, 2010 I was joining my friend Jordan at our neighborhood bar Westerwood Tavern to watch the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings (he is a big bears fan). At about 10:30 pm after more friends had showed up to join us. A man came on the microphone and asked us if we wanted to play trivia. Seeing that we would have a good team if we did I walked up and asked if it cost anything. As it turned out this trivia was free. Five rounds later, we were the victors. I thought this was unbelievable, I rarely ever won any other time I had ever played trivia.
A few weeks later we put together a team again and decided to defend our title. Going into round five we were in the lead! Unfortunately a bad round led to what I thought would be a loss. But miraculously we won again. This was unprecedented. I had never heard of someone winning twice in a row.
The next week mirrored the previous one. We won for the third time in a row!
I don’t know what this means but I think that I will continue to go back and defend our title. If we lose its fine, we are now a force to be reckoned with at Westerwood tavern.
